Data Engineer

About the role

Deriv is looking for a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines that power trading decisions, product analytics, compliance, and AI/ML systems across its global fintech platform. You will own data accuracy end‑to‑end and ensure pipelines run flawlessly, especially during critical month‑end periods.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and real‑time workloads using GCP, BigQuery, Airflow, Python and SQL.
• Embed observability (freshness checks, schema drift detection, lineage tracking) and automated data quality checks into every pipeline.
• Define and maintain data contracts, SLAs, SLOs and ensure proper handling of PII and auditability.
• Optimize warehouse performance and cost through partitioning, clustering and query efficiency.
• Collaborate with analysts, product, finance and compliance teams to translate requirements into governed data products.

Required profile

• 2‑8 years of experience in data engineering, preferably in fintech or regulated environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot data issues, trace root causes and implement systematic fixes.
• Experience working with cloud data stacks (GCP, BigQuery) and orchestration tools (Airflow).
• Strong communication skills to explain technical problems to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.
