Dean, College of Film

About the role

The University of the Arts Sharjah is establishing a new College of Film and seeks a visionary Dean to lead its academic, administrative and student‑focused activities. Reporting to senior university leadership, the Dean will shape the college’s strategic direction, ensure excellence in teaching, research and creative practice, and foster a vibrant community of scholars and artists.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic vision for the College of Film in line with the university’s overall plan.
• Oversee design, development and delivery of film programmes, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, including budgeting, resource allocation and facilities management.
• Lead recruitment, development and support of faculty and staff, promoting diversity and high qualifications.
• Drive student recruitment, retention and success initiatives, and address student concerns promptly.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration with the Colleges of Music and Theatre and other university units.
• Encourage and support research and creative projects, securing funding and facilitating dissemination of outcomes.
• Prepare reports, proposals and documentation related to college activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in film education and academic leadership, preferably at the senior level.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage academic programmes and achieve accreditation.
• Strong track record in budgeting, resource management and facilities oversight.
• Experience in faculty recruitment, development and performance management.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative and collaborative academic environment.
