Demi Chef - Continental

About the role

Emirates Flight Catering Co (L.L.C) is hiring a Demi Chef for its continental kitchen in Dubai. The role supervises staff during each shift, coordinates with senior production staff and takes responsibility for the quality of work within the team.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate work to subordinates, observe their methods and productivity, assist them and coordinate with senior staff to provide training.
• Supervise all staff within the shift or section and take responsibility for their quality of work.
• Take part in training junior staff in culinary skills.
• Receive guidance from seniors on food preparation, equipment use and resource allocation, and help resolve issues.
• Decide whether to accept or reject products according to published guidelines, request replacements or substitutions and escalate issues when needed.
• Monitor HACCP records, keep them up to date and take corrective action on variations.
• Test and revise recipes to reduce costs without compromising quality, and propose cost-saving measures with senior staff.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by following specifications, recipes and procedures, and maintain high standards of food safety, quality and hygiene.

Required profile

• Minimum Senior Secondary School certificate, or a Diploma in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts.
• At least 3 years of experience in the culinary field, including apprenticeships or industrial training.
