Demi Chef de Partie

About the role

Le Meridien in Dubai is hiring a Demi Chef de Partie. The role covers the full range of kitchen preparation and cooking tasks, from handling fresh produce to cooking dishes to recipe and quality standards, and includes setting up and cleaning the workstation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, and prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and the food preparation checklist.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods to check they are cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality during preparation.
• Set up and break down the workstation, and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment, and check that appliance and food temperatures are correct.
• Follow company and safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents and injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and keep a clean, professional appearance.
• Work within physical limits of the job, such as standing or walking for long periods and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
