Deputy Head of Prep School (Teaching and Learning)

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Head of Prep School (Teaching and Learning) to join GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail from January 2027. The role will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Prep School, driving excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Head of Prep School and Senior Leadership Team to shape and implement the school’s teaching and learning vision.
• Lead quality assurance processes, curriculum innovation and professional learning programmes.
• Monitor and improve classroom practice to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.
• Oversee curriculum development aligned with the National Curriculum for England and evidence‑informed practice.
• Support staff development through coaching, instructional frameworks and collaboration with external networks.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Master’s degree or National Professional Qualification (NPQ) in Education, or a clear commitment to ongoing leadership development.
• Significant leadership experience in a high‑performing British curriculum school.
• Deep understanding of the National Curriculum for England and evidence‑based instructional practices.
