Design Engineer - Cabin Interiors

About the role

The Design Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and work within the DOA (EASA/GCAA Part 21J) team to develop STCs, modifications and technical solutions for aircraft cabin interiors. The role involves troubleshooting faults, creating certification packages and delivering engineering documents that meet regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, technically accurate solutions for defects, repairs, modifications and concessions.
• Develop technical solutions using IPC, SRM, AMM, CMM, SBs, EM, production drawings and other manuals.
• Analyse defect reports to determine root cause and submit repair proposals to manufacturers for approval.
• Create change/modification design solutions and the associated certification package, including Modification Bulletins, engineering drawings, Bill of Materials and certification documents.
• Interface with internal stakeholders (CAD designers, project managers, quality, procurement, production) and external parties (customer representatives, BFE vendors, manufacturers) to ensure timely and cost‑effective implementation.
• Ensure timely release of engineering instructions, manuals supplements and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for aircraft return to service.
• Maintain an efficient engineering process that improves reliability and reduces turnaround time.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an EASA/GCAA Part 145/21J organization or equivalent FAA environment.
• Strong background in aircraft repairs, modifications, retrofit development and AOG support.
• Fluent English (spoken and written) with strong negotiation, presentation and planning abilities.
• Self‑starter, team player, analytical and willing to take responsibility.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CATIA v5 and other CAD software.
• Expertise in aircraft repair and modification design.
• Ability to produce certification documentation, test plans and compliance reports.
• Root‑cause analysis using maintenance data (IPC, SRM, AMM, CMM, SBs, EM).
• Knowledge of EASA, GCAA and FAA regulatory requirements (Part 145, Part 21J).
