Design Engineer - Electrical Switchgear (LV Panels)

About the role

This position is for a Design Engineer working on LV switchgear and electrical panel design in a switchgear manufacturing or panel-building company. It is open only to candidates with at least 3 years of hands-on LV switchgear or electrical panel design experience; previous applicants and those who do not meet this requirement should not apply.

Key responsibilities

• Review project SLDs, specifications, tender documents, BOQs, technical requirements and standards to define project scope.
• Prepare technical compliance statements and deviation schedules, and develop GA, SLD, schematic/control, wiring, termination drawings and BOMs.
• Perform busbar sizing, short-circuit, temperature-rise and cable sizing calculations.
• Select switchgear, protection devices, control and metering components and busbar systems, ensuring compliance with IEC standards, manufacturer guidelines and UAE regulations.
• Submit technical submittals, datasheets and drawings for consultant and client approval, and incorporate approved revisions.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, procurement and production teams, and conduct site visits and surveys where needed.
• Support manufacturing, QC inspection and testing, and prepare FAT procedures, FAT and SAT reports, O&M manuals and as-built drawings.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and SAT, and help with tendering and estimation.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3 years' experience, or a diploma with 3-5 years' experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on LV switchgear or electrical panel design experience in a switchgear or panel-building company.
• Strong communication skills with consultants and clients, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of LV system design, product selection and IEC standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, E plan and ERP systems and communication protocols.
