Director, Loan Portfolio Management

About the role

The Director, Loan Portfolio Management leads end‑to‑end oversight of a loan portfolio, combining hands‑on management of the loan book with strategic optimisation. The role is execution‑focused, responsible for asset quality, risk‑adjusted returns and balance‑sheet utilisation throughout the loan life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead waiver and amendment processes in partnership with coverage, credit, legal and agents.
• Oversee covenant monitoring, track breaches and escalate issues promptly.
• Contribute to Annual Reviews and Annual Credit Reviews, preparing analysis and challenging assumptions.
• Maintain continuous monitoring of the loan book using early‑warning indicators, watchlists and risk grading.
• Prepare accurate portfolio and credit reports for senior management and governance forums.
• Manage relationships with credit‑risk insurance providers for waivers, amendments and adverse events.
• Own a defined loan portfolio, monitoring exposures, returns, concentrations and risk profile.
• Recommend and execute portfolio actions such as reductions, exits, restructurings and secondary transactions.
• Identify deteriorating or low‑return exposures and take decisive mitigating actions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including coverage, origination, credit risk, loan agency, legal and compliance—to align portfolio objectives.

Required profile

• Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and handle complex, sensitive matters.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in credit health monitoring and risk grading.
• Excellent communication skills for client meetings, internal coordination and senior‑level reporting.
• Track record of improving asset quality and delivering risk‑adjusted returns.
