Director - Marketing (Retail)

About the role

The Director of Marketing will lead the development and execution of the retail portfolio marketing strategy for a large set of assets, including shopping malls, lifestyle destinations and community retail centres. Reporting to the VP – Marketing, Digital and Communications, the role is responsible for driving footfall, customer engagement and commercial growth across the portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a differentiated marketing strategy for each asset, aligned with business objectives and asset priorities.
• Lead a team of approximately 15 marketers, setting objectives, managing performance and fostering a collaborative culture.
• Oversee the creation and delivery of integrated campaigns, events, sponsorships and partnership programmes, ensuring budget adherence and measurable outcomes.
• Manage agency and supplier relationships, defining scopes, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance.
• Collaborate with Communications, PR, Digital, Leasing, Asset Management and Operations to ensure coordinated programmes and brand consistency.
• Own the annual marketing budget, track expenditure, forecast variances and report ROI to senior leadership.
• Utilise consumer insights and market research to identify opportunities that increase visitation and support tenant performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management or a related discipline; a master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of marketing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within shopping malls, retail real estate or lifestyle destinations.
• Proven track record of managing substantial marketing budgets and delivering integrated campaigns across multiple retail assets.
