Director of Inclusion – Whole School

About the role

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking a visionary Director of Inclusion to lead inclusive provision across its through‑school (ages 3‑18) from January 2027. The role is central to embedding a culture where every learner, including Students of Determination, can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for inclusive education across the whole school.
• Develop and implement exceptional practice for Students of Determination, ensuring compliance with the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework.
• Collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, parents and external agencies to embed inclusion in all aspects of school life.
• Lead the design and continuous improvement of inclusive curricula aligned with the British curriculum.
• Monitor and report on inclusion outcomes, driving evidence‑informed practice.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Special Educational Needs, Inclusion or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Significant experience leading inclusion in a high‑performing international school.
• Deep understanding of the British curriculum and inclusive practice across a through‑school setting.
• Proven track record of developing high‑quality provision for Students of Determination.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework.
• Expertise in inclusive education strategies and curriculum adaptation.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
