Drilling Fluids Specialist (Mud Engineer)

About the role

We are seeking a Drilling Fluids Specialist (Mud Engineer) to provide on‑site fluid engineering support for our drilling operations in Abu Dhabi. The role involves planning, executing and optimizing drilling fluid programs, ensuring compliance with technical standards and delivering cost‑effective solutions for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and adjust water‑based and oil/synthetic‑based drilling, workover and completion fluid programs on onshore and offshore rigs.
• Prepare and review daily mud running specifications, laboratory testing, inventory control and logistics, and communicate with drilling representatives and contractors.
• Generate end‑of‑well reports, pre‑ and post‑well analyses and recommend improvements for future wells.
• Maintain mud‑lab equipment, perform regular calibration, verification, and cleaning, and ensure optimal product inventory at the rig site.
• Use engineering software tools to interpret drilling data, produce daily drilling reports and support billing processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• 5‑8 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Specialist / Mud Engineer, preferably in the GCC region.
• Completed mud school or equivalent certification.
• Experience with offshore operations is highly preferred.
