Duty Engineer - Luxury Resort

About the role

Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort is hiring a Duty Engineer. The role manages all preventative maintenance, new projects, extensions and renovations, and acts as the department head in the absence of the Chief Engineer. It is a full-time position based in Ras Al Khaimah.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions and renovations.
• Ensure compliance with fire, health and safety licensing requirements and provide the necessary safety equipment.
• Monitor energy use and implement measures that save energy costs.
• Manage the department in the absence of the Chief Engineer and prioritise maintenance requests so they are handled efficiently by skilled, guest-friendly technicians.
• Advise colleagues on health and safety rules and processes, and perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Building Services Engineering; certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is ideal.
• Experience in luxury hotels and resorts.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Security, F&B and other departments, and to carry out maintenance with minimal disruption to guests.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water supply, drainage and mechanical systems.
• Understanding of chillers, boilers, pumps, generators, AHUs, FCUs, BMS, elevators and fire and life-safety systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings, electrical diagrams and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance, preventive-maintenance schedules and engineering logbooks.
• Familiarity with energy management, utility monitoring, basic BMS and CMMS.
• Occupational health and safety, fire safety and emergency procedures, and awareness of local building, electrical, environmental and fire-safety regulations.
