Duty Technician

About the role

The Duty Technician provides first‑line maintenance support for guest rooms, villas and public areas at Sofitel Dubai The Palm, ensuring rapid response to guest calls and work orders while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guest calls and departmental work orders, prioritising occupied rooms and villas.
• Perform first‑line repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, minor carpentry, locks and general maintenance.
• Carry out scheduled plant‑room rounds, record readings for chillers, AHUs/FCUs, boilers, pumps, water tanks, pools and generators.
• Monitor the BMS and fire alarm panel, act on alarms and escalate to the Duty Engineer as needed.
• Participate in emergency response teams for fire, flooding, power failure, lift entrapment and gas leaks.
• Inspect public areas, lighting, signage and pool/beach equipment, fixing or reporting defects.
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks and supervise contractors using permit‑to‑work and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Complete shift logs, hand over open jobs and record energy and water meter readings.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certificate in electrical, mechanical or HVAC engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of multi‑skilled maintenance experience, preferably in a 5‑star hotel or resort.
• Practical knowledge of electrical systems (LV), plumbing, HVAC and building management systems.
• Familiarity with fire safety systems and emergency procedures.
• Good spoken and written English and computer literacy for maintenance systems.
