EHS Engineer – Project Site Safety & Health Management

About the role

The EHS Engineer will lead the implementation of environment, health and safety (EHS) plans on a construction project site. You will establish safety objectives, monitor compliance, and ensure that all workers and subcontractors operate within defined safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute project‑specific EHS plans and health and safety management procedures (HSMP).
• Conduct fitness and document screening for all subcontractor personnel before work begins.
• Inspect worker camps, facilities and amenities (drinking water, food, sanitation) and enforce corrective actions.
• Set up and maintain a fully equipped First Aid room and train designated staff as first‑aid providers.
• Arrange regular medical check‑ups, provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and verify compliance of materials, equipment and systems.
• Deliver initial EHS orientation, ongoing training, toolbox talks and third‑party training for critical roles such as riggers and lifting supervisors.
• Organise mock drills (e.g., fire drills), procure and maintain safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency sirens) and install safety signage.
• Perform weekly site walks, H&S audits, workplace inspections and promptly address non‑conformities.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments and propose mitigation plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in EHS management on construction or industrial projects.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of local safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication skills for training and reporting.
