Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician carries out maintenance, installation, overhauling and modification of plant's electrical machinery and equipment in line with standard maintenance procedures, HSE guidelines and quality standards. The role works closely with the Electrical Supervisor, engineers and supervisors in the Maintenance section and the Operations team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily electrical maintenance and routine preventative maintenance according to schedule and NOMAC procedures
• Monitor equipment condition and report non-conformances to the Electrical Supervisor
• Respond to electrical failures and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime
• Troubleshoot circuits and wiring faults, locate faults in cables and test them against voltage ratings
• Diagnose faults in transformers, motors, relays, switches and control devices and take corrective action with the Electrical Supervisor
• Read technical manuals and wiring diagrams, align, adjust and calibrate equipment, and keep records of repairs, calibrations and tests
• Check spare parts stock levels and update the maintenance logbook
• Contribute to change initiatives and follow organisational policies, procedures and HSE controls

Required profile

• Technical certificate or Associate's Diploma in electrical maintenance
• 3-5 years' experience as an electrical maintenance technician in a plant environment
• Knowledge of HSE and quality standards, teamwork and collaboration skills
• ISO awareness or working knowledge preferred
