ELV Technician

About the role

An ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of ELV systems, including cable pulling, termination, equipment installation and support for communication systems such as TETRA. The role covers indoor and outdoor work, including working at heights, in confined spaces and on construction sites, and may involve shift work, night work, weekends or emergency call-outs. Candidates must be flexible to be assigned in other Emirates besides Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Pull, route, dress and secure ELV cables (fiber optic, CAT6/CAT6A, coaxial and related types)
• Install cable trays, conduits, trunking and cable supports
• Perform cable termination, labeling, splicing, testing and documentation
• Install, configure and maintain CCTV, access control, fire alarm, public address, structured cabling, intercom, panic alarm, VESDA, gate security, security scanning machines and walk-through systems
• Install and maintain TETRA systems, including base stations, antennas, RF feeders, repeaters, DAS and radio terminals
• Test, commission, troubleshoot and rectify faults in ELV and TETRA systems
• Read technical drawings, cable schedules and wiring diagrams, and ensure compliance with project specs and regulations
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors and the Project Manager, and keep accurate records of work, test reports and materials
• Follow HSE procedures, use PPE and keep tools and work areas tidy

Required profile

• Knowledge of ELV installation standards and practices
• Experience in cable pulling, dressing and termination
• Understanding of structured cabling systems
• Familiarity with TETRA radio systems and RF components
• Ability to read electrical and technical drawings
• Flexibility to work across Emirates and to take on shifts, nights, weekends or call-outs
