Engineer, Drilling Fluids

About the role

The Engineer, Drilling Fluids is responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of drilling and completion fluids, chemicals, and additives in line with oilfield standards. The role involves close collaboration with procurement, stores, service companies, and laboratory teams to maintain high QA/QC standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control QA/QC of all drilling and completion chemicals and brines, maintaining accurate records.
• Conduct spot checks of chemicals in stores, supplier facilities, and rigs, verifying storage, handling, HSE, and documentation compliance.
• Coordinate with Procurement and stores to maintain safety stock, track consumption patterns, and forecast quarterly chemical requirements.
• Perform laboratory pilot tests to evaluate service company formulations and troubleshoot drilling issues.
• Investigate chemical quality discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and follow up with suppliers.
• Audit supplier stores, evaluate tenders, and issue audit reports.
• Provide fluid input for well value assurance and conduct pilot studies on new formulations and technologies.
• Review fluid reports, well recaps, and monitor solids control equipment efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in drilling fluids, chemicals, or related oil‑field operations.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, HSE standards, and laboratory testing.
• Ability to analyse data, identify abnormalities, and propose corrective measures.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and service companies.
