Engineering Supervisor

About the role

The Engineering Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hotel engineering team at the InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa, a luxury beachfront resort on Hayat Island. The role ensures that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and safety systems run efficiently, while supervising maintenance staff, coordinating preventive maintenance and managing repairs so guests and staff stay in a safe, comfortable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the engineering team to ensure timely and effective maintenance and repair of hotel facilities and equipment
• Plan, schedule and oversee preventive maintenance programs and emergency repairs
• Inspect hotel systems regularly (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, elevators) to ensure efficiency and safety compliance
• Manage work orders and maintenance logs, keeping documentation accurate and up to date
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors and suppliers for outsourced maintenance and repair work
• Train, mentor and evaluate engineering staff performance
• Monitor inventory of engineering supplies and equipment and requisition materials as needed
• Assist in developing and managing the engineering budget, including labour, materials and equipment costs
• Ensure adherence to local regulations, codes and hotel policies on safety and maintenance
• Respond to urgent engineering issues promptly and collaborate with other hotel departments

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience in hotel engineering or facilities management
• Strong technical knowledge of hotel engineering systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire safety
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints and equipment manuals
• Relevant technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred
• Flexible to work shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
