EYFS & Primary SENCO (FS1 – Year 5)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced EYFS & Primary SENCO to support students from FS1 to Year 5 at Wesgreen International School in Sharjah. The role focuses on inclusive education, ensuring that pupils with additional needs achieve academic and personal success within a vibrant, high‑expectation environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, teachers and parents to design and deliver support for learners with additional educational needs.
• Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs), organise interventions, and lead support lessons and meetings.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of interventions and student progress.
• Line‑manage Learning Support Assistants (formerly Shadow teachers) to facilitate smooth transitions for students with special educational needs.
• Partner with classroom teachers to embed support strategies both inside and outside the classroom.
• Conduct workshops and small‑group sessions with parents to reinforce learning at home.
• Work with senior leadership to create holistic development activities for the whole school community.
• Maintain comprehensive caseload summaries, lesson records and referral reports.

Required profile

• Master’s qualification in SEND provision.
• Strong knowledge of current SEND initiatives and best practices.
• Ability to analyse data to track vulnerable learners’ progress.
• Understanding of behaviour management and discipline strategies.
• Experience working with culturally diverse student populations.
• Proven track record of developing staff practice and innovative teaching approaches.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Superior interpersonal skills, demonstrating patience, empathy and enthusiasm.
