Field Engineer – Subsea Installation (Offshore Rotational)

About the role

Black & Grey HR is recruiting a Field Engineer – Subsea to join the client’s offshore project delivery team on a permanent rotational basis. You will act as the resident engineering representative during subsea inspection, repair, maintenance and construction (IRM/EPC) operations, providing real‑time technical authority both offshore and from the shore‑based Abu Dhabi facility.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site technical engineering support for subsea inspection, installation and construction across IRM and EPC scopes.
• Serve as the primary engineering authority on site, ensuring compliance with method statements, specifications and quality plans.
• Monitor construction and inspection activities in real time, resolve non‑conformances, technical queries and issue field engineering instructions.
• Interface with ROV supervisors, diving supervisors and vessel crews to address technical requirements and operational problems.
• Attend daily briefings, toolbox talks and pre‑task risk assessments; contribute to Permit to Work processes.
• Maintain accurate daily engineering logs and prepare non‑conformance reports, technical deviation requests and field change requests.
• Support pre‑mobilisation activities, including vessel readiness assessments, material take‑offs and procurement coordination.
• Assist with post‑project lessons‑learned documentation and engineering close‑out deliverables.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine or Subsea Engineering from a recognised institution (or equivalent vocational qualification with demonstrable offshore experience).
• Proven experience in subsea field engineering, offshore inspection and construction activities.
• Hands‑on knowledge of subsea operations, ROV and diving environments, and EPC project delivery.
