Field Safety Engineer (Rig)

About the role

The Field Safety Engineer supports the Rig Manager in overseeing HSE and Asset Integrity systems on assigned offshore rig sites. The role provides safety and environmental guidance to rig personnel, develops procedures, delivers training, and audits work practices, with a focus on the Permit to Work system and related safe‑work processes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct safety orientation briefings for all incoming and departing personnel and ensure familiarity with emergency muster stations.
• Assist in developing safety programs such as hazard identification, pinch‑point audits, DROPS, and working‑at‑heights plans.
• Deliver safety training sessions, supervise practical exercises, and coordinate orientation programs to promote accident prevention.
• Maintain life‑saving appliances and safety equipment, support preventive‑maintenance programmes, and audit equipment readiness.
• Implement and manage the Permit to Work system, preparing permits, ensuring isolation and shutdown procedures, and conducting required gas tests.
• Perform standby duties during high‑risk jobs, investigate incidents, and produce independent assessments with corrective recommendations.
• Monitor vehicular activity where applicable and advise on unsafe driving practices.

Required profile

• Experience supporting HSE and Asset Integrity management on offshore rigs.
• Ability to conduct safety orientations, briefings, and emergency drills.
• Proven capability to investigate incidents and produce actionable recommendations.
• Strong knowledge of safe‑work systems, including Permit to Work and hazard‑identification processes.
