Finishing Technician – Steel Industry

About the role

The Finishing Technician will work in the workshop’s finishing section of a steel plant, supporting production optimisation and equipment reliability. The role involves hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting and assisting senior technicians during planned shutdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs to minimise downtime.
• Perform troubleshooting on mechanical equipment during shutdowns and help identify root causes.
• Assist the Senior Technician in all technical activities and act as the lead technician when required.
• Ensure all tools, tackles and safety equipment are available and used correctly.
• Inspect equipment for compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
• Follow established mechanical maintenance standards and health‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years (36 months) of experience in a steel‑industry finishing workshop.
• ITI qualification in Mechanical Fitter Trade or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
