Frontend Architect - Micro-Frontends & 3D Visualization

About the role

A client is looking for a Frontend Architect to own the frontend architecture of its platform end to end. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports: the authority is technical, and the person sets the technical direction, defines the patterns others build against and stays hands-on enough to prove their own designs.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the frontend architecture of the platform and the applications built on it.
• Build and maintain the micro-frontend architecture, defining integration patterns across the application shell, shared libraries, design system, authentication services and backend APIs.
• Design and implement modular applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.
• Architect operational dashboards, control-room views and 3D or interactive visualizations of equipment, sites and assets.
• Build reusable component libraries, layout frameworks and common engineering patterns.
• Ensure performance, scalability, maintainability, security, usability and accessibility across the frontend estate.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews and mentoring.
• Work with product owners, UX designers, backend architects and QA to turn requirements into robust frontend solutions.

Required profile

• 12 or more years of frontend engineering experience, with a substantial period at architect level.
• Demonstrable experience designing and owning micro-frontend architecture (Module Federation, single-spa, web components or similar), not just working within one.
• Experience building with Three.js for 3D and interactive visualization of industrial assets.
• Evidence of architectural ownership: setting direction that other engineers follow and carrying them through design decisions.

Required skills

• Deep, current expertise in React and TypeScript.
• Strong command of frontend routing, state management, API integration, authentication flows and role-based access.
• Integration with REST, GraphQL, WebSockets or real-time data services.
• Performance engineering: bundle optimization, lazy loading, rendering performance and Core Web Vitals.
• Testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright.
• Desirable: WebGL, Babylon.js, Unity3D or similar; data-dense operational or monitoring interfaces; industrial, manufacturing or energy sector exposure.
