General Environmental and Employee Health & Safety Specialist

About the role

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Emirati professional to develop, implement and maintain comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs across its operations in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on improving HSE performance, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Project HSE Plan and Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Conduct HSE drills, inspections, audits and investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Review risk assessments, method statements, subcontractor HSE plans and ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Provide HSE guidance to project teams, support Centre of Expertise delivery and report HSE statistics.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of HSE advisory experience in a high‑risk industry, preferably substation EPC.
• UAE national with a degree/diploma in engineering or science and professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC).
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes of practice, ISO 14001/45001 and ability to conduct audits and investigations.

Required skills

• NEBOSH IGC certification.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and SharePoint.
