Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a detail‑oriented Geotechnical Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. You will apply scientific principles and advanced software to develop innovative geotechnical solutions for complex infrastructure projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations, interpret field data, and produce design‑driven recommendations.
• Prepare and review technical deliverables such as desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, and perform settlement and slope stability analyses.
• Utilize geotechnical modeling tools (GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide, Plaxis) to validate solutions.
• Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to align expectations, timelines, and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline (honors preferred).
• 3–5 years of professional experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, design codes, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional Engineer registration or Chartered status is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide, and Plaxis.
• Competency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D for technical drawing.
• Experience in settlement analysis, retaining wall design, foundation design, earthworks, and slope stability.
• Solid understanding of rock mechanics.
