GIS Engineer

About the role

The GIS Engineer will join Jacobs' Innovative Systems team in Dubai, supporting data capture, analysis, mapping and visualization for a variety of projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate geospatial solutions on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Produce thematic and cartographic maps using ArcGIS Desktop and Pro.
• Create, edit, and maintain GIS data, ensuring topology and quality standards.
• Convert engineering design data (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) to GIS formats and vice‑versa.
• Identify geospatial data requirements, perform QC/QC of deliverables, and manage spatial data infrastructures.
• Support web GIS platforms, including ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online.

Required profile

• 6–12 years of relevant GIS experience.
• Degree in a related discipline with at least a 2:1 classification.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and ambition.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro (including extensions).
• Thematic/cartographic mapping and spatial analysis.
• GIS data creation, editing, topology management, map authoring and publishing.
• Spatial data conversion between engineering design formats and GIS.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.
• Experience with web GIS, ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Online.
• Advanced data management for complex spatial projects.
