Group Finance Director

About the role

The Group Finance Director will lead the finance function of a leading UAE main contractor, reporting directly to the CEO. This senior position provides strategic financial leadership across multiple business units and large‑scale construction projects, ensuring robust governance, profitability, and cash flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high‑performing finance team, setting strategic direction.
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with long‑term business objectives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Produce accurate monthly and annual financial statements, board reports, and executive analyses.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and funding requirements.
• Monitor project financial performance, including revenue recognition, profitability, cost control, and forecasting.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, Procurement, and Project Directors to maximise margins.
• Lead risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, local regulations, taxation, and statutory reporting.
• Manage external audits and relationships with auditors and regulators.
• Support contract reviews, commercial negotiations, joint ventures, and investment decisions.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, reporting systems, and automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CMA).
• Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership in construction or contracting.
• Proven experience with large main contractors in the GCC.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, project finance, and contract administration.
