Head of Accounting - US SaaS Clients

About the role

MAVI is hiring a Head of Accounting to own the accounting function end to end for US-based IT SaaS clients. The role sits inside US finance teams, working closely with Controllers, CFOs and founders, and is accountable for the integrity of the financial statements, the close, the control environment and audit readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month-end, quarter-end and annual close under US GAAP, including calendar, output quality and cycle time
• Own the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, standing behind them with leadership and auditors
• Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including schedules, deferred revenue roll-forward, ARR reporting and related judgments
• Maintain general ledger integrity and drive reconciling items to resolution
• Set and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, approval workflows and close procedures
• Lead the annual audit or review, including auditor management, PBC preparation and resolution of findings
• Coordinate US tax compliance with external CPAs and own the accounting inputs they need
• Handle multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany balances and foreign currency translation where applicable
• Prepare reporting packages, variance analysis and KPI reporting for US leadership, boards and investors
• Lead, mentor accounting staff and manage outsourced bookkeeping partners
• Lead ERP selection, implementation and migration, and automation of AP, expense and close management
• Build the close checklist, process narratives and SOPs, and partner with US finance leaders on accounting implications of business decisions

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with deep US GAAP knowledge, including staff leadership
• Demonstrated independent ownership of the close and financial statements
• Strong depth in revenue recognition (ASC 606); ASC 842 and ASC 718 an advantage
• SaaS or IT services background strongly preferred
• Experience leading an audit or review and building accounting processes and controls from the ground up
• CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent qualification strongly preferred; Big 4 or comparable public accounting followed by industry experience preferred
• Excellent English, with confidence in leadership or audit settings, and availability for substantial US time zone overlap

Required skills

• Substantial ERP experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks or equivalent)
• Familiarity with tools such as Ramp, Brex, Bill.com or FloQast
• Multi-entity accounting and consolidation preferred
