Head of AI – Space and Electronic

About the role

We are seeking an accomplished Head of AI to lead the development and deployment of artificial intelligence capabilities for resilient space‑based communications. The role combines deep AI expertise with extensive experience in military operations, electronic warfare and communications intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the AI strategy for space‑based communication systems.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams developing intelligent capabilities across satellites, payloads, ground systems and operational networks.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, defence, telecommunications, cybersecurity and executive stakeholders.
• Drive AI integration for autonomous systems, mission planning and operational decision support.

Required profile

• Experience with satellite payloads, multi‑orbit networks, 5G NTN, D2D services or mobile satellite services.
• Knowledge of 3GPP Release 17 or later NTN standards.
• Familiarity with L‑band, S‑band or other satellite communications spectrum.
• Background in software‑defined radios, cognitive radio, electronic support measures or RF sensing.
• Doctorate or equivalent research experience in AI, RF systems, signal processing or related fields.
• Track record of publishing research, securing patents or delivering mission‑critical technology.
• Previous senior military officer, EW commander, intelligence leader or defence technology executive experience.
