Head of Animation

About the role

ChillBase studio, an independent and innovative player in the gaming industry, is looking for a Head of Animation for its art team behind OneState, a mobile social RP game built in Unity. The studio uses modern technologies and tools, continuously refines its pipelines and aims for the highest level of quality and immersion.

Key responsibilities

• Define and defend the project's animation vision
• Build scalable systems and grow the team while ensuring autonomy and professional development
• Establish and enforce animation quality standards across all platforms
• Optimize the animation pipeline and introduce new tools and approaches
• Act as a key partner for production, art direction and technical teams

Required profile

• Experience leading an animation department and owning the full production cycle
• Deep understanding of realistic animation and experience adapting it for mobile, PC and console platforms
• Experience building teams and working with outsourcing partners, including selection, task assignment and quality control
• A pragmatic approach to quality within budget and timeline constraints, focusing on cost versus value
• Fluent Russian; a bonus is experience with motion capture and post-processing, active use of modern tools and AI, strong industry networking and the ability to attract external experts

• State machines, blending, retargeting and IK/FK
• Creating and maintaining living animation style guides
