Head of Engineering

About the role

The Head of Engineering will join the executive team of Edison Smart in Abu Dhabi, leading the design, development and scaling of a secure digital banking platform. This senior, hands‑on leader will shape technology strategy across AI, blockchain and cloud while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a technology roadmap aligned with long‑term business goals.
• Champion adoption of AI, machine learning, blockchain and cloud infrastructure.
• Architect and deliver a high‑availability, secure digital banking platform.
• Establish engineering standards, frameworks and best practices for backend, frontend, data and infrastructure.
• Build, lead and scale a multi‑disciplinary engineering organisation, mentoring senior engineers and future leaders.
• Own technology risk posture, implementing cybersecurity, data protection and privacy controls.
• Ensure compliance with global financial regulations such as AML, KYC and data‑protection frameworks.
• Collaborate with product, operations, compliance and commercial teams and represent technology with regulators and partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in engineering, preferably within fintech or digital banking.
• Hands‑on technical background with ability to influence architecture and code quality.
• Track record of building high‑performing, cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management in financial services.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
