Head of MEA Relationship Management and Africa Client Coverage

About the role

State Street Investment Management is looking for an accomplished investment management leader to join its Middle East & Africa (MEA) Client Coverage team. You will lead a team of client relationship managers covering institutional and intermediary clients across the region, lead the business development team and efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa, and report to the Head of Middle East and Africa as part of the regional leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Own and account for business growth targets, including those for Sub-Saharan Africa, and oversee the business development team
• Lead the MEA client relationship management team and client management and retention efforts
• Work with regional management on the annual business strategy and its execution
• Ensure successful onboarding of new clients and mandates with the EMEA Onboarding team
• Focus on value-added products such as quant and fundamental equities, EM debt, fixed income, cash and alternatives, while defending the core indexing business
• Oversee RFPs, product information gathering and client research origination and dissemination
• Deliver a consultative sale using the expertise of internal specialists (portfolio management, portfolio strategy, research, cash, ETFs)
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and maintain the highest fiduciary standards and compliance

Required profile

• Academic background in finance, economics, business or a related field
• Licensed as a Key Individual (KI) with South African regulatory (FSP)
• Minimum 10 years dealing with EMEA clients, 10 years with official institutions and 10 years in sales and relationship management at top-tier international firms
• People management experience
• Willingness to travel across the region and internationally when required
