Head of Observability

About the role

The partner company is seeking a Head of Observability to lead the strategy and execution of observability across a high‑scale, developer‑facing platform. This senior technical leader will own both internal reliability tooling and the customer‑facing observability product, shaping architecture, product direction, and team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the end‑to‑end observability strategy, covering logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, profiling and telemetry.
• Architect a unified observability platform, making build‑versus‑buy decisions and ensuring scalability and performance.
• Establish SLOs, SLIs, error budgets and capacity‑planning frameworks to embed observability into engineering decisions.
• Own the developer‑facing observability experience, including dashboards, logs, metrics and alerting tools.
• Build and lead a high‑performing observability engineering team, setting technical standards and mentoring engineers.
• Drive adoption of consistent instrumentation standards using OpenTelemetry across all services.
• Design and operate high‑throughput telemetry pipelines for ingestion, storage, querying and analytics.
• Ensure reliability, cost efficiency and rapid growth support for observability infrastructure.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Proven track record building, scaling or operating observability platforms in high‑scale production environments.
• Deep expertise across logging, metrics, tracing, alerting and dashboarding.
• Hands‑on experience with OpenTelemetry and related instrumentation frameworks.
