Head Teller

About the role

The Head Teller will oversee cash management operations, CDM functions and ensure accurate handling of bulk cash transactions in the branch. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to support both customers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Cheque Deposit Machines (CDM) operations, including collection, tallying and forwarding cheques for clearing within agreed TAT.
• Maintain vault operations, ensuring cash accuracy, safe custody, and timely transfer of excess cash.
• Supervise teller cash handling, verify end‑of‑day balances, investigate discrepancies and ensure GL reconciliation.
• Process bulk cash receipts and withdrawals, correctly credit/debit customer accounts and issue payment instruments.
• Monitor and control branch cash limits for local and foreign currency, and ensure compliance with bank policies.
• Act as Branch Operations Manager in their absence and prepare daily teller voucher bundles for internal control.
• Guide and train tellers on bank procedures and promote digital channels for cash transactions.

Required profile

• Graduate in a commercially oriented discipline or diploma in business/finance.
• 5–6 years of retail/branch banking experience, preferably as Senior Teller or Head Teller.
• Strong knowledge of cash handling, vault management and teller operations.
• Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Excellent customer service orientation and ability to train staff.
