Healthcare Assistant – Pediatric OPD (UAE National)

About the role

The Healthcare Assistant works in the Paediatric Out‑Patient Department, supporting physicians and nurses to deliver safe, efficient, patient‑centred care for children and their families. The role involves preparing rooms, assisting with examinations, and ensuring a clean, comfortable environment throughout each visit.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pediatricians and nurses during outpatient visits for infants, children, and adolescents.
• Prepare examination and treatment rooms before patient appointments.
• Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, height, weight, and head circumference.
• Collect basic medical history from parents or caregivers and maintain accurate patient records.
• Provide age‑appropriate comfort and reassurance to reduce anxiety.
• Assist with specimen collection and transportation as directed.
• Support vaccinations, dressings, wound care, and other minor procedures.
• Educate parents on health, hygiene, medication administration, and follow‑up care.
• Maintain infection‑prevention standards, stock supplies, and report shortages.
• Respond to pediatric emergencies and coordinate referrals and follow‑up appointments.

Required profile

• Diploma in Healthcare Assistance.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
