HSE Officer - Construction

About the role

A construction company in Abu Dhabi is looking for an HSE Officer with 5-10 years of construction experience to implement and monitor health, safety and environmental practices on site. The officer supports the HSE Engineer and Management Team in promoting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with UAE labour law, Abu Dhabi authority requirements and company safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Help implement HSE plans, policies and procedures on site, and carry out daily site inspections, safety patrols and audits
• Monitor work practices against UAE labour law and Abu Dhabi HSE regulations, and identify unsafe conditions, acts and hazards
• Take part in risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talks
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, document findings and help with corrective actions
• Maintain incident, accident and safety observation records
• Deliver site safety inductions, orientations and refresher training for workers and subcontractors, and run safety awareness programmes
• Keep HSE checklists, permits and inspection logs, and prepare daily and weekly HSE reports and dashboards
• Ensure documentation meets ISO 45001 and project HSE requirements
• Liaise with project teams, subcontractors and HSE engineers, and support emergency response drills and fire safety programmes
• Assist with inspections by authorities, insurance auditors and third-party safety consultants

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental engineering, civil/construction engineering or a related field
• 5-10 years of HSE experience in construction, including at least 3-5 years in UAE/Abu Dhabi projects
• Exposure to residential, commercial, high-rise, infrastructure or mixed-use projects
• Preferred: NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30 Construction Safety, first aid and fire safety training
• Preferred: experience with main contractors, subcontractors or PMC firms in Abu Dhabi, and hands-on inspection and incident reporting experience

Required skills

• Knowledge of UAE labour laws, Abu Dhabi HSE regulations and ISO 45001
• Proficiency in MS Office and HSE reporting tools
• Attention to detail, good communication and ability to enforce safety standards on site
