HVAC Mechanic – Preventive Maintenance & Repair

About the role

This position provides preventive maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment for a USAF contract at a military base in Abu Dhabi. The mechanic works under general direction, following detailed procedures and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high‑ and low‑pressure steam heating systems, including belt checks and filter changes.
• Install, service, and repair chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, package units, and pump houses.
• Mount compressor and condenser units on auxiliary equipment.
• Manage refrigerant use, storage, and disposal in compliance with Clean Air Act, CENTCOM, and host‑nation regulations.
• Perform minor HVACR maintenance using oral or written instructions and adhere to ANSI/ASHRAE standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years related experience.
• Five years HVAC AFSC/MOS experience or equivalent military service.
• US citizenship for facility credentials/authorization.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate government vehicles.

Required skills

• NATE or Eurovent Certita certification (or equivalent).
• EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate.
• Copper brazing qualification.
• Forklift Class III (2000‑10,000 lb) certification.
• Powered industrial truck/skid‑steer loader operation certification.
