HVDC Tender Technical Manager

About the role

The Tender Engineering Manager acts as the HVDC Technical Bid Leader and the primary technical point of contact with the customer for large or complex projects, which may include HVDC technology on offshore platforms. The role leads the technical coordination and management of the tender phase, ensuring technical solutions are delivered on time, within budget and in line with customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall technical coordination and management during the tendering phase of HVDC projects and serve as the main contact for the customer.
• Ensure the technical tender design meets deadlines and quality standards, and coordinate the global schedule of tender engineering activities across work packages.
• Select safe, reliable, cost-effective and easy-to-install and operate technical solutions, and deliver the required documentation by the tender schedule.
• Estimate the project engineering budget and develop the engineering design strategy with the Regional Technical Tendering Leader and Regional Engineering Leader.
• Manage the project from execution (Order to Remittance) and coordinate Functional Engineering Leaders such as Control, Platform and Layout/Design.
• Coordinate Project Engineers who have led similar projects during execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in HVDC systems, FACTS, industrial or renewable applications.
• Mandatory experience in the HVDC/Grid solution integration industry.
• Strong written and spoken English; willingness to travel worldwide up to 20% or more of the time.

Required skills

• Knowledge of engineering processes such as civil works, plant engineering, control and protection hardware, system and performance studies, or electrical design.
• Familiarity with standards and codes such as IEC 62351, IEEE 1588, IEEE 802, IEEE 1402, IEC 62501 and NERC CIP.
