Industrial AI Engineering Intern (MEng)

About the role

Nordhail builds industrial AI for the energy sector, with Calgary roots and customers worldwide. It is looking for an Industrial AI Engineering Intern (MEng) to report to the President, working on-site in Abu Dhabi in January or May 2027 for 4, 8 or 12 months. The intern writes and validates the engineering handbooks the AI relies on, then tests it with the questions an operator or site engineer would ask; on-site field experience is valued over coding knowledge, and no programming or machine learning background is needed.

Key responsibilities

• Write and structure equipment handbooks, operating procedures, standards and site practices
• Validate content for technical accuracy against field experience
• Build test questions from real operating scenarios and score the AI's answers as correct, incomplete or unsafe
• Work with the engineering team to close the gaps
• Present findings to leadership at the end of the term

Required profile

• MEng student in Chemical, Petroleum, Process, Mechanical or Mining Engineering
• Industrial field experience from a co-op, work term or industry role
• Able to spot when an answer is technically wrong and explain why

Bonus points

• Exposure to oil and gas, mining, utilities, process control or asset management
• Experience with SCADA, historian or sensor data
• Arabic language skills
