Information Officer – Privacy & Data Protection

About the role

Revolut is seeking an experienced Information Officer to lead its privacy and data‑protection compliance programme in South Africa. You will act as the officially registered Information Officer with the South African Information Regulator and work closely with the global Data Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Register and represent Revolut as the Information Officer in South Africa.
• Build and lead a local privacy team while coordinating with global DPO initiatives.
• Design and maintain a comprehensive framework for handling personal data to meet POPIA, GDPR and other relevant standards.
• Conduct deep‑dive reviews of new products and AI tools for fairness, transparency and security.
• Map data flows, manage the full data lifecycle and automate deletion of unnecessary information.
• Serve as the primary contact for audits, regulatory reports and inquiries.
• Partner with engineering to embed privacy features into applications.
• Oversee customer rights processes for access, correction and deletion of personal data.
• Run regular security checks to protect against cyber threats and data leaks.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in compliance, privacy, risk management, legal or audit functions.
• Deep knowledge of South African privacy laws (POPIA, FICA, NCA, CPA) and international regulations (GDPR, Financial Sector Regulation Act).
• Proven ability to advise on privacy risks and support business units through cross‑functional engagements.
• Strong interest in expanding expertise to data and AI governance.
