Instrument Engineer - Oil & Gas Project

About the role

IOTA GROUP is recruiting an Instrument Engineer for a major full-field oil development in southern Iraq, involving about 220 new wells feeding a central processing facility with a capacity of 210 kbopd. The engineer oversees all Instrument, Control and Telecom (IC&T) engineering for the Network Wellpads and Pipelines package, ensuring deliverables meet project, technical and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the IC&T engineering team to deliver on schedule, within budget and to quality standards, applying lessons learned from past projects
• Identify safe-by-design opportunities to reduce HSE risks during construction
• Review and approve IC&T designs, drawings and specifications, and ensure contractor documentation such as the Master Document Register is fit for purpose
• Support interface management with drilling, early infrastructure works, existing facilities and the central processing facility
• Take part in technical bid evaluations, HAZOP, SIL assessment and SIF identification workshops, and attend Factory Acceptance Tests
• Manage design changes, resolve IC&T issues and communicate solutions to stakeholders
• Work with Process, Pipeline, Electrical, Civil & Structural, Technical Safety, Mechanical and Piping engineers to integrate quality and safety
• Develop IC&T quality standards, support procurement and construction teams, and improve engineering processes
• Act as the main point of contact for IC&T matters with contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
• Minimum 8 years in IC&T engineering, preferably on large-scale oil and gas projects
• At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing IC&T engineering, ideally on EPC projects
• Fluent English; Arabic or Chinese is an asset
