Inventory Controller – Retail Finance (1‑year contract)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Retail Finance Analyst focused on inventory and stock control to join our finance team. You will work closely with finance, supply chain, buying, warehouse and store operations to ensure inventory accuracy and support financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control inventory movements across warehouses, stores and distribution channels, ensuring balances are correctly reflected in financial systems.
• Investigate discrepancies, reconcile physical counts with system records, and analyse variances, shrinkage and damages.
• Coordinate cycle counts and annual stock‑taking, review results and work with operational teams to resolve issues.
• Prepare inventory, aging, shrinkage and variance reports, develop dashboards using Excel and Power BI, and provide actionable insights.
• Support month‑end, year‑end close activities, internal and external audits, and maintain strong documentation and audit trails.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related field; professional qualifications (CMA, CPA, CIMA) are a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, retail finance, cost accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a fast‑paced multi‑site retail environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills with a continuous‑improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).
• Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation.
• ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or JDE.
