IT Systems Specialist – Server & Infrastructure

About the role

The Specialist IT System will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining the core server and operating system environment that supports our advanced autonomous systems projects. This full‑time position works on‑site in Abu Dhabi and collaborates closely with IT support staff and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain server operating systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access controls, providing technical support and troubleshooting.
• Administer databases, ensuring data integrity, regular backups and recovery processes.
• Develop and execute backup strategies and disaster‑recovery plans.
• Apply OS and application patches, maintaining security and performance.
• Coordinate change management activities to minimise disruption.
• Respond to system incidents and outages, restoring services quickly.
• Monitor system performance, optimise resources and ensure high availability.
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, processes and procedures.
• Liaise with vendors for purchases, upgrades and support services.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of IT infrastructure administration experience, focusing on servers and system management.
• At least 3 years in a system‑management role within a mid‑sized organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft Certified Windows Server, CCNA, VCP).
• Strong knowledge of NIST 800‑53, CNSSI 1253, data classification, IPSEC, SSL, PKI and least‑privilege access concepts.
