Java Backend Software Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Java Backend Engineer to join our banking‑technology team. You will build and maintain high‑performance, secure backend services that power digital, mobile, and corporate banking channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade backend services, APIs and micro‑services using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Implement RESTful and event‑driven services following API standards, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and governance frameworks.
• Deploy and support applications on Microsoft Azure, leveraging AKS, App Services, Key Vault, Storage and Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps, security teams and product squads to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Apply OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS and other security controls to ensure robust API protection.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, optimise performance and support release management activities.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, code reviews and CI/CD implementation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years building Spring Boot micro‑services.
• Proven experience delivering solutions in banking, fintech or payments environments.
• Strong understanding of regulated, security‑focused development and compliance requirements.
• Experience with high‑availability, scalable systems supporting mission‑critical customer journeys.

• API gateways (Kong, Layer7) and observability tools.
