Junior Field Protection Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Siemens is looking for a Junior Field Protection Engineer to join its Smart Infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi. You will work on testing and commissioning of protection and automation systems for high‑voltage transmission projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission Siemens Protection & Automation systems on power transmission projects.
• Prepare SAT/FAT protocols, technical documentation and conduct Pre‑FAT/FAT activities with customers.
• Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, work permits and testing protocols.
• Support product feedback, approvals and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders.
• Perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations on protection systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical & Communication Engineering.
• 2–3 years of experience in protection and automation commissioning.
• Experience working in multicultural project environments.
• Prior exposure to substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4, SIPROTEC 5 and Reyrolle.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850 communication, GOOSE applications and relay configuration tools.
• Familiarity with control logic creation (BCPU/BCU) and configuration files (SCD/ICD/CID).
• Understanding of power quality, substation automation and industrial communication protocols.
• Advanced use of OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20 or higher) for modules like Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, State Sequencer, Ramping, Transplay and OCC files.
