Junior Field Protection Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Siemens is looking for a Junior Field Protection Engineer to join its Smart Infrastructure team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on testing and commissioning protection and automation systems for high‑voltage transmission projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission Siemens Protection & Automation systems on transmission projects.
• Prepare and execute SAT/FAT protocols and related technical documentation.
• Conduct Pre‑FAT/FAT activities with customers for protection panels (AVR, LIBBP, HIBBP, TIP, etc.).
• Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, work permits and testing protocols.
• Support product feedback, approvals and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders.
• Perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations on protection systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Electrical & Communication Engineering.
• 2–3 years of experience in protection and automation commissioning.
• Experience working in multicultural project environments, preferably in substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Siemens platforms such as SIPROTEC 4, SIPROTEC 5 and Reyrolle.
• Strong knowledge of Power Quality, Substation Automation and IEC 61850 (GOOSE, SCD/ICD/CID).
• Familiarity with control‑logic creation (BCPU/BCU) and industrial communication protocols.
• Advanced use of OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20 or higher) for distance, line‑differential, transformer‑differential, state sequencer, ramping, transplay and OCC testing.
