Kitchen Steward - Cleanliness and Operational Support

About the role

InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay is looking for a Kitchen Steward to keep its culinary operations clean, organized and safe. Reporting to the Stewarding Supervisor, the role supports the Stewarding Supervisor, Chefs and Food & Beverage teams so that kitchens, preparation areas, storage spaces and service equipment stay clean and available. It covers dishwashing, equipment care, waste management and support for restaurant, banquet and in-room dining.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils, and operate dishwashing equipment safely
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, workstations and stewarding areas, following cleaning schedules and HACCP food safety standards
• Keep kitchen equipment and utensils available for use, and help move and store equipment and supplies
• Support chefs and kitchen teams with operational needs, and help set up and clear equipment during events and busy service periods
• Remove and dispose of waste according to hotel procedures, segregate waste and keep garbage collection areas clean
• Keep adequate stock of cleaning materials and supplies, and follow health, safety and security procedures
• Report maintenance issues and hazards, and take part in safety and hygiene training

Required profile

• High school certificate or equivalent preferred
• Previous stewarding, kitchen cleaning or hospitality experience preferred; hotel, restaurant or large food service experience is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices preferred
• Physically fit and able to perform operational tasks
• Positive attitude, reliability, teamwork and attention to detail
