Laboratory Technician - Cementing

About the role

This laboratory technician position covers cementing-related analytical testing. The role performs quantitative and qualitative tests on process streams, sampling and HSE samples according to internationally accepted standard methods for quality assurance. It sits in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control / Laboratory Services family.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests and analyses following established methods and instructions.
• Collect plant samples using internationally accepted standard sampling procedures to support research studies.
• Enter analytical results into the computerised Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and Business Object reporting software.
• Prepare and standardize chemical reagents for daily laboratory tests and on-line analysers.
• Report instrument faults and apparatus damage to the shift supervisor; check and run trials on new or repaired laboratory equipment.
• Maintain inventory records of chemicals, calibration materials, gases, spares and consumables.
• Comply with HSE policies, participate in emergency response, and keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Provide technical data for progress reports, method statements and near-miss reports, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Train on the job to meet competency-based training programmes for UAE nationalization.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or secondary school certificate with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field.
• 4 years of experience.
• Professional certifications as applicable.

Working conditions

• Minimal physical effort.
• Air-conditioned environment, with occasional exposure to heat, humidity and dust during site visits.
