Lead Engineer - Automation and Control, Service Engineering

About the role

Baker Hughes is hiring a Lead Engineer for its Service Engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role acts as the technical reference point for field and project engineers, managing non-conformities, troubleshooting complex rotating machinery and leading issue resolution across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage non-conformities and resolve technical issues with ownership and accountability.
• Act as the technical reference point for field and project engineers, helping them resolve issues reported from project sites.
• Manage and share engineering lessons learned across projects.
• Troubleshoot issues of heavy-duty gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, electric motors, gearboxes and auxiliary systems.
• Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines and lead issue resolution.
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as trip investigation reports, root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans.
• Follow commissioning team processes, including design reviews, quality and safety procedures and KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electronics/electrical or equivalent engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 7 years of technical experience on control systems and rotating machinery at project sites.
• Knowledge of heavy-duty gas turbine or centrifugal compressor operation.
• Fluent English with excellent communication and presentation skills; flexibility to travel to sites.
• Desired: project engineering knowledge (document management, non-conformity management, FMEA), ability to work across multi-functional global teams and lead small teams.

Required skills

• Control systems: Mark VIe, Mark VIeS SIL system, Proficy Machine Edition, PLCs, DCS.
• Interpreting control logic and operational issues.
• Reading process and instrument diagrams (P&ID) and wiring diagrams.
