Lead Geologist

About the role

Crescent Petroleum (CP) Upstream is looking for a Lead Geologist to head the Subsurface Team in Sharjah. You will provide technical leadership across all geology activities and manage a team of geologists to deliver high‑quality subsurface studies for exploration, appraisal and development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver geological input for asset maturation, evaluation and ranking.
• Define technical scopes, deliverables and requirements for project proposals.
• Integrate seismic, well, core and production data to build and refine geological models and field architecture.
• Conduct probabilistic resource assessments following SPE‑PRMS and other standards.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists and geophysicists to maintain 3D geological models.
• Prepare and present technical documentation for internal reviews, partner meetings and regulatory submissions.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and promote technical excellence.
• Support well‑planning activities, including geohazard assessment and post‑drill evaluation.
• Develop geology work‑plans and contribute to annual work programme and budget submissions.
• Assist business development through technical evaluations and due‑diligence.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Geoscience or a related field.
• 10‑15+ years of upstream oil & gas experience, focusing on appraisal, development and reservoir characterisation.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.

Required skills

• Seismic interpretation.
• Stratigraphy, structural geology and basin analysis.
• Geological modelling software – Petrel and GeoX.
• Probabilistic resource estimation and volumetric uncertainty analysis.
